Program Round Trip : 31 July – 7 August 2011
(optional extension for seminar 1 or preliminary option for seminar 2 or separate trip or seminar 1 + round trip + seminar 2)
- Starting 31st of July, ending 7th of August
- Day 1: leaving from Tirana to Elbasan, visit the Ethnographical museum and Kalaja, the old castle of Scampia, as Elbasan was called in Roman times. Afternoon leaving for Berat. Visiting the Mangalem (former Ottoman)area. Evening dinner.
- Day 2: Visiting the Ethnographical museum and the old citadel, lunch, free time, evening dinner .
- Day3: leaving Berat for possible excursion to Kelcyrë villages or Çorovode canyon.
- Day 4: leaving Berat for Gjirokastër, via Tepëlenë. Evening dinner in Gjirokastër.
- Day 5: visiting the old town of Gjirokastër, ethnographical museum, afternoon free time, evening dinner.
- Day 6: excursion to Butrint national park and Saranda. Dinner at the Blue Eye spring on the way back to Gjirokastër.
- Day 7: return to Tirana via coastal route and Vlore.
- Day 8: leaving Tirana or continue on seminar 2.
This roundtrip possibility is designed as optional trip as extension or preliminary to the seminars, but might also be taken as a separate trip.
Participants for just the trip or the roundtrip as preliminary to the second seminar need to arrive in Tirana on the 30th of July as leaving for Elbasan will be early morning.
The program is just a global idea of possibilities and can be discussed with participants. We will arrange for live music, dance and folklore wherever we can.
Accommodation:
We will stay in more or less traditional well-equipped hotels. The hotels in Berat and Gjirokastër are excellent in this respect. Breakfast, and dinners all included. Lunches at free will, at own costs.
Pricing:
Admission fees for museums and other events included. Where of interest local guides will be hired.
Pricing not yet set, but be prepared for about 600 Euro all in per person, based on double rooms. Travel to and from the Tirana airport will be included.

The trip does not depend on a larger number of participants since expenses are based on individuals. Price will remain the same for almost any acceptable number of participants.
